Our Story — From Loyal Customers to Potato Island Owners🥔🌴

Hi, Islanders! My name is Elijah Hawkins, and with the help of the good Lord, my wife Cierra, our sweet 2-year-old son Branson, and my father, Michael Hawkins, we were blessed with the opportunity to go from loyal Potato Island customers to the new owners of Potato Island just over a year ago. We realized we’ve been so busy working behind the scenes that we never really stopped to share a little bit of our story with all of you. Entrepreneurship has always been something I’ve been passionate about. Potato Island is my third business adventure, but my very first experience in the food industry. As a longtime fan of Potato Island, you may wonder what made me take such a big leap into the food business. The answer is simple: my mom, Amy Hawkins. Unfortunately, we lost my mom unexpectedly in February 2024. She wasn’t only an incredible mother; she was also a self-taught chef and baker who always dreamed of one day having a restaurant of her own. Her passion for cooking, baking, and bringing people together inspired me to take on this journey and become a food business owner and operator. In many ways, Potato Island has become a way for me to carry a piece of her dream forward. Today, I’m blessed to be building this dream alongside my wife, Cierra, while raising our sweet boy, Branson. He may only be 2 years old, but he is already a big part of the reason we work so hard to build something we can be proud of. From fresh ingredients that are prepared and cooked daily to generous portions that leave you feeling like you truly got your money’s worth, we want every visit to Potato Island to be something you look forward to. And of course, we can’t forget Michael Hawkins creator of our homemade cheesecakes, made fresh every week and created with the same love and attention to detail we put into everything we serve. Our goal is simple: to serve great food, treat every customer like family, and create a place you’re always excited to come back.
